The clubs are a sturdy hard plastic which, in the hands of a free swinging 2-year old can leave a pretty good bruise on Daddy--Pardon my ice pack, please. It's a nice toy, with a putting cup and cute flag, but for younger kids, get the foam clubs for your own safety. We wanted him to get a little practice golf in before we went to play miniature golf as a family. He thought it was very cool and picked up on the idea of the game quickly. I like that there are different textured areas to shoot for when going for the hole. The golf clubs are sturdy and thick- easy for little hands to control. It's nice, too, that there is the option to set the ball on the tee to hit from there, or just hit from far away toward the "green." I would recommend this toy for a child who is interested in golf.
